Growth Prospects

  • Strategic Acquisitions: The Company had completed two strategic acquisitions, LMCA Holdings Limited and LMCI Holdings Limited, during Q4 FY21. Moreover, these acquisitions will add drug pricing data, as well as other critical Life Sciences data and analysis to the existing world-class pharmaceuticals intelligence.
  • Strong Operational Progress: The attractiveness of the information services has given the potential of delivering strong financial and operating performance going forward. Meanwhile, the introduction of single Platform operating model is likely to accelerate organic and inorganic growth opportunities.

Key Risks

  • Ukraine Tension: The mounting concern over the Russian invasion in Ukraine can continue to weigh on the equity market.
  • Record UK Inflation: The annual rate of UK consumer price inflation reached 5.5% in January 2022, the highest since March 1992. Thus, it can adversely impact the London equities.
  • Other Significant Risk Factors: The Company’s debt level has increased recently, which can also create a liquidity risk. Further, the Group operates in highly competitive yet fragmented markets.

Valuation Methodology: Price/Earnings Approach (FY22E)

Business Outlook

The Company has produced strong FY21 business performance with significant growth in top-line revenue, dividend payments and bottom-line profitability. The strategic progress made through M&A (acquisitions of the Life Sciences business of IHS Markit, LMCA Holdings Limited and LMCI Holdings Limited) in the Q4 FY21 shall augment the solid organic growth. However, the net debt had shown an increase during FY21 because of investment in M&A. Meanwhile, DATA aimed to achieve strong organic revenue growth and continued margin improvement in 2022. In a nutshell, the Company would keep generating long term returns for the shareholders with an improved forward revenue visibility and strategic acquisitions pipeline.

Markets are trading in a highly volatile zone currently due to certain macro-economic and geopolitical tensions prevailing. Therefore, it is prudent to follow a cautious approach while investing.

Considering the recent strategic acquisitions, robust profitability, strong growth dividend payments, decent top-line business during FY21, and support from the valuation as done using the above method, we have given a “Speculative Buy” recommendation on GlobalData PLC at the current market price of GBX 1,290.00 (as of 01 March 2022 at 09:44 AM GMT), with lower-double digit upside potential based on 39.42x Price/NTM Earnings (approx.) on FY22E earnings per share (approx.).
