Business Outlook

The Company has shown solid top-line business during H1 FY22 and carried the positive momentum into Q3 FY22. Moreover, PDL is exploring a responsible exit from its investment in the Koffiefontein diamond mining operations in South Africa as the mine approaches the end of its life. Furthermore, the Company targets generating USD 200 million in net free cash flow for the three years ended June 2022, supported by Project 2022, which aims to enhance operating performance at Cullinan and Finsch. In a nutshell, PDL remained committed to generating FY22 production ranging from 3.3 million carats to 3.6 million carats.

Please note markets are trading in a highly volatile zone currently due to certain macro-economic and geopolitical tensions prevailing. Therefore, it is prudent to follow a cautious approach while investing.

Considering the robust H1 FY22 financial performance, strong guidance, upgrade in credit ratings, and support from the valuation as done using the above method, we have given a “Speculative Buy” recommendation on Petra Diamonds Limited at the current market price of GBX 115.00 (as of 01 June 2022 at 09:34 AM GMT+1), with lower-double digit upside potential based on 4.87x Price/NTM Earnings (approx.) on FY22E earnings per share (approx.).
