The transaction, primarily with funds managed by Waterland, is expected to enhance Vodafone’s enterprise digital services portfolio across Europe.
Enhancing Vodafone’s Cloud and Security Capabilities
The acquisition of Skaylink GmbH, a leading provider of cloud and digital transformation services, marks a significant expansion of Vodafone’s technical capabilities for enterprise customers. Skaylink operates across Germany and Europe, providing end-to-end services that include cloud migrations, AI integration, and cybersecurity solutions for clients using Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) platforms.
By incorporating Skaylink’s expertise, Vodafone aims to deliver an enhanced suite of managed services, enabling customers to modernise operations and improve digital resilience.
Accelerating Vodafone Business’ Digital Growth Strategy
The transaction aligns with Vodafone Business’ strategic focus on growth in key technology sectors, including security, managed services, and cloud infrastructure. Through this acquisition, Vodafone will increase its ability to support both business and public sector organisations as they transition to advanced digital and hybrid environments.
Skaylink’s customer-centric approach and established presence across European markets are expected to complement Vodafone’s existing enterprise offerings. The integration of Skaylink’s team of over 500 cloud and digital specialists will bring additional technical expertise to Vodafone’s business division, enhancing its service capability across major European economies.
Completion of the acquisition is expected by the end of March 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Vodafone’s Broader Digital and Network Footprint
Vodafone Group operates across Europe and Africa, serving more than 355 million mobile and broadband customers in 15 countries, with investments in a further five and partnerships in over 40 markets. The company’s undersea cable network carries approximately one-sixth of global internet traffic, supporting its position as a major enabler of global connectivity.
Vodafone also operates one of the world’s largest Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, managing over 215 million IoT connections, and offers financial services to around 92 million customers across seven African countries. The company is currently developing a direct-to-mobile satellite communications service aimed at connecting remote areas without terrestrial coverage.
Completion Timeline
Upon receiving the necessary regulatory clearances, Vodafone expects to finalise the Skaylink acquisition by March 2026. The company stated that the deal is consistent with its plan to expand into high-value digital service areas that complement its core connectivity business.
