Wizz Air Holdings PLC (LSE:WIZZ) released its January 2026 traffic and CO₂ emission statistics on 3 February 2026, outlining higher passenger volumes alongside increased capacity deployment.

The airline carried 5.35 million passengers during January 2026, representing an 8.5% year-on-year increase compared with January 2025. Over the same period, total capacity rose 10.5% year-on-year to 6.34 million seats. The monthly load factor stood at 84.4%, down 1.6 percentage points from the prior-year period.

On a rolling 12-month basis to January 2026, Wizz Air carried 69.01 million passengers, up 9.8% year-on-year, while capacity increased 10.0% to 75.95 million seats. The rolling load factor edged lower to 90.9%, compared with 91.1% a year earlier.

CO₂ Emissions and Efficiency Indicators

Alongside traffic data, Wizz Air published updated CO₂ emission statistics for January 2026. Total CO₂ emissions for the month were reported at 503,822 metric tonnes, reflecting a 4.9% year-on-year increase in line with higher capacity and passenger volumes.

CO₂ emissions per passenger kilometre declined to 52.7 grams, down 2.0% year-on-year, indicating improved emissions intensity during the month.

For the rolling 12 months ended January 2026, total CO₂ emissions reached 6.05 million metric tonnes, up 5.0% year-on-year, while CO₂ per passenger kilometre fell 3.0% year-on-year to 50.7 grams. The disclosed figures do not include any benefit from sustainable aviation fuel uplift.

Network and Distribution Updates

Wizz Air reached a cumulative milestone of 500 million passengers in January 2026, achieved over 21 years of operations. The company noted that this growth has been supported by ongoing fleet expansion, with aircraft numbers expected to increase from 231 in F25 to 334 by F30. Based on this trajectory, Wizz Air indicated that it expects to carry its next 500 million passengers within the following five-year period.

During the month, the airline also expanded its network to 1,000 routes, connecting 200 destinations across more than 50 countries. In parallel, distribution reach was extended through a new agreement with Paxport, adding access to Online Travel Agencies, Travel Management Companies, travel agents and tour operators, following earlier arrangements with Kyte and Travelfusion.
