Wood Group (John) PLC, in joint venture with Tendrill International Sdn. Bhd, has been awarded a new contract to provide brownfield engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP). The agreement spans five years, with an option to extend for an additional two years and covers BSP’s offshore and onshore assets in Brunei Darussalam.

Under the contract, the joint venture   known as TendrillWood will manage full-cycle brownfield EPC projects, beginning with conceptual design and continuing through commissioning and start-up. The scope includes a range of brownfield modifications to existing energy infrastructure.

Brunei Shell Petroleum, the country’s largest oil and gas producer, plays a central role in Brunei’s energy sector, contributing significantly to national hydrocarbon output. The award continues a long-standing relationship between Wood and BSP, with Wood having delivered various engineering and operations services in the country for over a decade.

The joint venture was formed in 2023 and currently employs around 1,000 people, with 70% of the workforce comprising Bruneian nationals. The latest contract is expected to maintain that localisation focus, with continued investment in the development of domestic expertise and integration of the Bruneian supply chain.

Commenting on the award, Wood’s Chief Executive Officer Ken Gilmartin said the company's familiarity with BSP’s asset base will support the execution of EPC activities across the contract term. He also emphasised the importance of local skills development and the broader supply chain.

Haryati Ramlee, Managing Director at Tendrill stated-

"This award marks a significant milestone for Tendrill and our joint venture with Wood.  Our local expertise will complement Wood's experience to deliver safe, efficient and result-driven outcomes for BSP while aligning to the national agenda to maximise local content, capacity development and long-term value creation for the country. Our joint venture brings world-class standard to local operations while ensuring our people, our communities and our industries continue to benefit."
