Highlights

  • The company completed machine-cut channel sampling at its Pine Crow-Defender tungsten prospect in Nevada.
  • Trench samples from December 2025 have been sent for laboratory assays, with results expected in January.
  • Tungsten exploration aligns with US demand for domestically sourced critical and strategic minerals.

Great Western Mining Corporation PLC (LSE:GWMO) has released an operational update related to tungsten exploration activities at its Pine Crow-Defender prospect in Mineral County, Nevada. The project is wholly owned by the company and forms part of its broader exploration portfolio across base and precious metals in the United States.

The update follows earlier disclosures made in October and November 2025 regarding anomalous soil sampling results and the identification of priority exploration zones. In December 2025, the company’s exploration team carried out a machine-cut channel sampling programme across pre-existing trenches at the Pine Crow-Defender site.

Channel Sampling Programme Completed
The trench sampling programme was designed to further evaluate areas highlighted by earlier soil sampling. According to the update, the work focused on existing trenches and aimed to assess the continuity and scale of tungsten mineralisation across the prospect.

Samples collected during the December programme have been dispatched to a laboratory for assay. The company indicated that results from these analyses are expected during January 2026. These results may contribute to the planning and design of a potential early-stage drilling programme at the prospect, subject to outcomes from the assays.

Broader Exploration Activity in 2025
The tungsten work at Pine Crow-Defender forms part of a wider exploration effort undertaken by Great Western Mining during 2025. Over the year, the company completed drilling campaigns at the West Huntoon copper prospect and the Rhyolite Dome gold prospect, both located in Nevada. Laboratory assay results from those drilling programmes are currently awaited.

In addition to drilling, surface sampling activities were carried out across multiple projects, including West Huntoon and Defender-Pine Crow. These programmes were aimed at improving geological understanding and refining exploration targets across the company’s landholdings.

Strategic Context for Tungsten
The company noted that the development of tungsten assets is relevant in the context of US demand for secure domestic supplies of critical and strategic minerals. Tungsten is classified as a critical mineral due to its industrial applications and supply chain considerations.

As of the 5 January 2026 update, attention remains on the forthcoming assay results from the Pine Crow-Defender trench samples, which are expected to provide additional data on the tungsten potential of the project.
