Helium One Global (LSE:HE1), a leading helium explorer in Tanzania, has announced a significant development in its Galactica Project in Colorado, USA, following a key update from its partner, Blue Star Helium (ASX:BNL).

The Las Animas County Board of Commissioners has approved the construction of the Pinon Canyon Plant, a critical component of the Galactica helium and CO2 processing facility. The approval, formalized through Resolution MF 2025-001, grants Blue Star the necessary authorisation to move forward with the plant’s construction. This plant will be located on Lot 6 of Section 31, in Township 30 South, Range 54 West, 6th PM.

The approval came after a thorough review, with the Board of County Commissioners affirming that Blue Star had sufficiently demonstrated the need for the facility at this location. The commissioners specifically noted that the proposed plant location and the operational plans were suitable for the project. Additionally, they highlighted the compatibility of the processing facility with the surrounding land uses and the adequate utility of existing roads, with an agreement for repairing any road damage caused during construction.

This approval marks a major milestone for the Galactica Project, as the Pinon Canyon Plant is a crucial element for the project’s advancement. With this permit in hand, the project can now proceed to the next stages of construction and operational development.

The Galactica Project is part of the broader Galactica/Pegasus development, which was initially discovered by Blue Star in 2022. This large-scale development offers significant potential for helium production, along with CO2 recovery. The project is progressing in joint venture with Helium One Global, under a farm-in agreement, in which Helium One will fund the initial US$450,000 of the development costs for the first well.

In addition, the Galactica Project’s development is further supported by the neighbouring Red Rocks helium project, also owned by a third party.
