Softcat PLC (LSE: SCT), a FTSE 250 UK company, provides IT solutions and infrastructure services to corporate and public sector clients, supporting them in designing, sourcing, and managing digital infrastructure. 

In the first half of financial year 2025 (H1FY25), Softcat reported revenue of GBP 545.6 million, up 16.8% from GBP 467.2 million in H1 FY2024, supported by growth across all major segments, with hardware increasing 18.9% and services 17.6%. Operating profit rose 10.4% year-on-year to GBP 73.7 million, reflecting a 12.1% increase in gross profit and consistent operational delivery. Profit for the period was GBP 57.4 million, compared with GBP 51.0 million a year earlier, mainly due to higher finance income and improved cash generation.

Business Update
In April 2025, SCT acquired Leeds-based Oakland Group Services Ltd, a data and AI consultancy that generated GBP 10 million in 2024 revenue. The deal was valued at GBP 8 million in cash, with additional potential earn-outs. The acquisition is intended to enhance Softcat’s data and AI capabilities, while the company maintains its existing financial guidance. Oakland will continue to operate independently, with its leadership team integrated into Softcat’s structure.
Company Outlook

For FY2025, Softcat PLC expects operating profit to grow in the low double digits, an upward revision from prior guidance of high single-digit growth, supported by a healthy pipeline into the second half of the year. Management also anticipates double-digit gross profit growth, driven by demand in security, networking, data centre, and services. With a UK market share of roughly 5% and customer penetration of about 20%, the company sees scope for further expansion through deeper engagement with existing clients and new customer acquisition.

The top 10 shareholders of Softcat together form around 59.17% of the total shareholding. Kelly (Peter David John) and Mawer Investment Management Ltd. hold a maximum stake in the company at ~32.50% and ~4.97%, respectively.
