APA Group's Projections Indicate Future Payments May Be Unsustainable Estimates Indicate APA Group's Could Struggle to Maintain Dividend Payments In The Future APA Group's Future Dividends May Potentially Be At Risk A big dividend yield for a few years doesn't mean much if it can't be sustained. The company is paying out a large amount of its cash flows, even though it isn't generating any profit. These payout levels would generally be quite difficult to keep up. Earnings per share is forecast to rise by 190.5% over the next year. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could get very high, which probably can't continue without starting to put some pressure on the balance sheet.ASX:APA Historic Dividend June 26th 2025 Check out our latest analysis for APA Group APA Group Has A Solid Track Record Even over a long history of paying dividends, the company's distributions have been remarkably stable. Since 2015, the annual payment back then was A$0.363, compared to the most recent full-year payment of A$0.56. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 4.4% per annum over that time. Dividends have grown relatively slowly, which is not great, but some investors may value the relative consistency of the dividend. The Company Could Face Some Challenges Growing The Dividend The company's investors will be pleased to have been receiving dividend income for some time. APA Group has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 33% per annum. The company hasn't been turning a profit, but it running in the right direction. If the company can turn a profit relatively soon, we can see this becoming a reliable income stock. The Dividend Could Prove To Be Unreliable Overall, this is probably not a great income stock, even though the dividend is being raised at the moment. We can't deny that the payments have been very stable, but we are a little bit worried about the very high payout ratio. Overall, we don't think this company has the makings of a good income stock. Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one.
