We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. On the other hand, we'd be remiss not to mention that insider sales have been known to precede tough periods for a business. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Diversified United Investment Limited (ASX:DUI). Do Insider Transactions Matter? Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock in the company. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required. We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. That single transaction was for AU$1.5m worth of shares at a price of AU$4.20 each. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of AU$5.06. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
