Cirata plc (LSE: CRTA) has announced a significant $2M, three-year contract with a leading UK retailer, marking an expansion in the scope and value of its collaboration. This enterprise-wide agreement represents a deepening strategic relationship, where the retailer will leverage hybrid cloud solutions to make data available for analytics, generative AI (GenAI), and edge use cases.
The contract enables the retailer to implement data automation at petabyte scale, migrating data seamlessly between multiple sources and targets, including on-premise systems and the cloud. Cirata’s innovative approach to data orchestration will be key in supporting the retailer’s data modernization goals, facilitating efficient, large-scale data management.
One of the standout features of the partnership is the implementation of open table formats, such as Apache Iceberg, which will allow for platform interoperability and prevent vendor lock-in. Apache Iceberg has become a leading standard for managing data and metadata, providing a scalable and flexible structure that ensures data can be used across different computing platforms, further enhancing the retailer's ability to innovate.
Stephen Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of Cirata, commented: "This enterprise-wide licence agreement with one of the world's leading retailers is a strong endorsement of Cirata's strategy. The ability to leverage the open table format to avoid vendor lock-in was a critical factor for the selection of Cirata. This customer is an innovator in data modernization, and the contract recognizes Cirata as a strategic partner, driven by their strong alignment with our technology roadmap."
Kelly continued, "As we signalled in January, FY25 represents a growth year built on solid foundations, and this customer contract marks another step in the right direction. The validation from a leading UK retailer is a strong endorsement that customers are seeking petabyte-scale data automation with the freedom from vendor lock-in."
