Why Dotdigital Is in Focus Today
Dotdigital Group plc (LSE:DOTD) is one of the most actively discussed technology stocks on the FTSE AIM All-Share on 3 November 2026 after releasing its audited full-year results before the market opened. The provider of an AI-powered Marketing platform for customer acquisition, engagement, retention and advocacy delivered numbers in line with market expectations, with acquisitions driving a sharp acceleration in recurring revenue.
The results land at a pivotal moment. Dotdigital has been reshaping itself through acquisitions aimed at the fast-growing Shopify and ecommerce ecosystem, and investors are weighing that progress against softer trends in the core marketing platform.
Recurring Revenue Accelerates
The standout figure was annual recurring revenue, which rose 18% to £85.4m. Excluding the contribution of Alia at acquisition, organic ARR grew 8%, up from 6% at the half-year stage. Recognised recurring revenue increased 14% to £76.8m and now accounts for 84% of group revenue, compared with 80% a year earlier. Gross Margin improved to around 80%.
Group revenue increased 8% to £90.9m from £83.9m. Excluding acquisitions, however, revenue was flat, reflecting the previously announced exit from a low-margin transactional messaging contract and lower one-off revenue.
Alia and Social Snowball Shine
Dotdigital's recent acquisitions are performing strongly. Alia, an AI-powered pop-up and email and SMS list-growth tool acquired in March 2026 for up to $60m, grew its ARR by 45% to £10.0m in less than four months under Dotdigital ownership. Social Snowball, the influencer, affiliate and referral marketing platform acquired in June 2025, increased ARR by 33% to £5.4m in its first full year.
These deals have strengthened Dotdigital's footprint among Shopify merchants and helped lift North American revenue by around 37%. Management sees cross-selling between the core platform, Alia and Social Snowball as a major growth opportunity.
Core Platform Challenges
Not everything was positive. Contracted recurring revenue in the core marketing platform grew only around 3% to £69.4m. The company pointed to mixed macroeconomic conditions, which lengthened buying cycles and slowed new customer wins. Core platform revenue in the United States declined after the loss of three significant customers.
Adjusted pre-tax profit increased just 2% to £19.4m, from £19.0m, held back by lower interest income following cash spent on acquisitions. Year-end cash stood at £17.1m after the initial $30m payment for Alia.
Outlook for FY27
Chief executive Milan Patel described FY26 as a year of substantial progress. Management said trading in the first four months of the new financial year is in line with the board's expectations and that growth is expected to accelerate. Priorities for FY27 include sustaining growth in the acquired businesses, improving retention in the core platform and expanding cross-selling.
Share Price Context
Dotdigital shares have traded in the mid-40p range for much of 2026, giving the company a Market Value of roughly £140m. At that level, the valuation is modest relative to recurring revenue, which some investors view as an opportunity if organic growth continues to improve.
What Investors Are Watching Next
Key catalysts for Dotdigital (LSE:DOTD) include:
- The virtual investor presentation on 5 November 2026, where management will discuss the results and strategy.
- Continued ARR growth at Alia and Social Snowball and evidence of cross-selling success.
- Stabilisation of the core platform, particularly in the United States.
- A half-year trading update, usually released in January.
- Cash generation and any future acquisitions.
Risks to Consider
Dotdigital faces intense competition in marketing automation from larger global players. Customer losses in the core platform and longer sales cycles could weigh on growth. Integration of acquisitions carries execution risk, and lower cash balances reduce the interest income cushion that previously supported profits.
Outlook
Dotdigital (LSE:DOTD) has delivered a results day that shows a broader, more diversified platform with accelerating organic ARR growth. For investors on the FTSE AIM All-Share, the key question is whether the strong momentum at Alia and Social Snowball can offset softness in the core Business and drive the faster growth that management expects in FY27.
