Why W.A.G. Payment Solutions (LSE:EWG) Is in Focus Today

W.A.G. Payment Solutions (LSE:EWG), the European provider of payment, data and technology services to the commercial road transport industry, is in focus on 3 November 2026 as investors track the final stretch of its pivotal customer migration year. Management has said that from 2027 its focus will shift towards scaling and monetising Eurowag Office, making the next few months critical for the Investment case.

Eurowag has become a talking point among investors interested in the digitalisation of logistics, sometimes described as the platformisation of trucking. The question now is whether the strong adoption of its platform will translate into faster revenue growth and higher margins from next year.

First-Half 2026 Results

In its interim results on 9 September 2026, Eurowag reported net revenue of €179.5 million, up 10.7% from €162.2 million. Payment solutions net revenue rose 13.3% to €110.9 million, while mobility solutions net revenue increased 6.7% to €68.6 million. Growth was broad-based, with toll revenue up 26%, energy up 6%, core fleet management solutions up 15%, and navigation and tax refund both up 12%. Total revenue, including fuel sales, rose 18.5% to around €1.38 billion.

Profit before tax fell to €8.4 million from €15.7 million, and Net Income fell to €5.2 million, mainly due to €8.3 million of non-cash foreign exchange losses, largely related to Hungarian forint exposure. Capitalised Research and Development increased 17.3% to €21.0 million as the company continued to invest in its platform.

Eurowag Office: The Strategic Priority

Eurowag Office is an integrated digital platform that brings together the company's services, including fuel, tolls, tax refunds, fleet management, work time management, navigation and financial services, in a single interface for trucking companies. Customer adoption has accelerated sharply, with more than 65% of customers actively using the platform by September, compared with 35% at the end of the first quarter. Transport management solutions are expected to be integrated during 2027.

The average number of products used per truck rose from 2.7 to 2.8 in 2025, showing the cross-sell potential. A single platform makes it easier for customers to adopt additional services, which should increase revenue per customer and reduce churn over time.

FY2025 Base and Guidance

In FY2025, W.A.G. Payment Solutions (LSE:EWG) grew net revenue by 12.9% to €330.1 million, with payment solutions up 20.1% and toll revenue up more than 50%. Profit before tax rose 62.4% to €19.0 million.

For FY2026, the company expects low double-digit net revenue growth, an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 40%, capitalised R&D below €50 million and adjusted cash EBITDA in the range of around €105 million to €115 million. Net leverage is expected to remain below 2 times, within its target range of 1.5 to 2.5 times.

Leadership

Founder and Chief Executive Martin Vohánka has led Eurowag for around 18 years, building it from a fuel card Business into a broad technology platform. He has highlighted the company's resilience through different fuel price and economic environments, including significant fuel price Volatility in 2026.

Market Opportunity

Europe's commercial road transport sector includes hundreds of thousands of small and medium-sized trucking companies that need to manage fuel, tolls across multiple countries, VAT refunds, driver working time and vehicle tracking. Many still rely on fragmented tools from multiple providers. Eurowag's strategy is to become the single digital hub for these fleets, combining payments with data and software, and to use proprietary data to build differentiated services. Its base in central and eastern Europe gives it a strong position in a fast-growing part of the market, and growth in toll payments has been particularly strong as more European countries introduce distance-based road charges.

Key Risks

Risks include fuel price volatility, the economic health of European trucking companies, competition from larger payment and fleet management providers, execution risk on platform migration, regulatory changes affecting tolls and taxes, and currency exposure across central and eastern Europe.

What Investors Are Watching Next

Investors will look for a year-end trading update in January 2027 confirming that FY2026 guidance has been met, the percentage of customers migrated to Eurowag Office, early evidence of monetisation and cross-selling, and the outlook for 2027 revenue growth and margins. Capital allocation, including any further special dividends, will also be closely watched.
