Litecoin (LTC) is a decentralized digital currency introduced in 2011 by Charlie Lee as an alternative to Bitcoin. It belongs to a category known as altcoins, which are cryptocurrencies developed as alternatives to Bitcoin. Litecoin was designed to offer faster transaction confirmation times and lower transaction fees, making it more suitable for everyday payments and smaller transfers compared to Bitcoin.
