Key Growth Aspects

  • Strong Revenue and Earnings Performance: During the second quarter of fiscal 2026, the company delivered solid financial results, reporting revenue of USD 9.0 billion, an increase of 6.6% on a reported basis and 5.5% organically. Non-GAAP diluted EPS increased 8 percent to USD 1.36, exceeding prior guidance. Growth was broad-based across geographies, with mid-single-digit expansion in the United States, Western Europe, and China. The company also recorded a 70-basis-point improvement in adjusted gross margin driven by operational efficiencies and pricing gains. Reflecting the strong first-half performance and building commercial momentum, full-year guidance for both revenue and earnings was raised.
  • Momentum in Core Growth Platforms: Operational performance strengthened meaningfully across key product portfolios. Cardiovascular revenue increased 9.3 percent organically, marking the strongest growth in more than a decade outside of pandemic-related comparisons. Cardiac Ablation Solutions grew 71 percent, supported by strong pulsed-field ablation demand and significant U.S. market share gains. Neuroscience revenue increased 3.9 percent organically, driven by high-single-digit growth in neuromodulation and continued adoption of the AiBLE™ enabling technology ecosystem. Medical Surgical revenue grew 1.3 percent organically, while the Diabetes business increased 7.1 percent organically, underpinned by strong international pump and CGM adoption and new sensor-related demand.
  • Execution on Innovation and Market Access: The company continued advancing its innovation agenda while strengthening long-term growth drivers. U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued a favorable National Coverage Determination for the Symplicity™ renal denervation procedure, expanding access to a potential addressable market of approximately 18 million U.S. patients with uncontrolled hypertension. In addition, the Altaviva™ implantable tibial device received U.S. FDA approval for urge urinary incontinence, and new payer wins broadened commercial coverage. The company also progressed regulatory and clinical programs across robotic-assisted surgery, cardiovascular therapies, and diabetes management systems, positioning multiple franchises for sustained adoption.
  • Strategic Investment and Forward Outlook: Management continued to prioritize disciplined but growth-oriented capital allocation. Research and development spending increased 9 percent year-over-year, reflecting targeted investment in high-potential franchises. Sales and marketing spending was also strategically increased to support strong commercial demand across priority platforms. The company reaffirmed its commitment to operational efficiency, maintaining leverage while investing for sustainable expansion. With multiple product launches underway, accelerating procedure growth, and strengthened revenue visibility, the company expects improved performance through the second half of fiscal 2026 and reiterated expectations for continued earnings growth into fiscal 2027.

Technical Observation (on the daily chart):

MDT’s stock has been in a steady uptrend through most of 2025, but the recent pullback from the December highs has shifted momentum to a consolidation phase. The price is currently hovering around the 50-day moving average while trading below the 20-day moving average, indicating weakening short-term momentum but an intact medium-term trend. The RSI near 48 signals neutral conditions, with no strong overbought or oversold bias. A move back above the 20-day average would suggest renewed upside momentum, while a break below the 50-day average could point to a deeper correction.

Medtronic delivered a strong second quarter of FY26, supported by robust market demand and effective execution across its strategic growth platforms. Revenue grew 5.5% organically to USD 9.0 billion, while non-GAAP EPS increased 8%, exceeding expectations. Performance was led by exceptional 71% growth in Cardiac Ablation Solutions driven by pulsed-field ablation adoption, alongside solid contributions from Neuroscience, Medical Surgical, and Diabetes. The company also strengthened long-term momentum through favorable U.S. reimbursement for its Symplicity™ hypertension therapy and FDA approval of Altaviva™ for urinary incontinence. Supported by improved operational efficiency and disciplined investment, management raised full-year revenue and earnings guidance, reinforcing confidence in accelerating growth into the second half and beyond.

As per the above-mentioned price action, recent key business and financial updates, momentum in the stock over the last month, and technical indicators analysis, a ‘Buy’ rating has been given Medtronic Public Limited Company (NYSE: MDT) at the closing market price of USD 97.36 as of Jan 05,2026.
