Valuation Methodology: Price/Earnings Approach (FY21) (Illustrative)

Conclusion

The Company had expected additional demand for high grade low impurity pellets, boosted by the tighter emissions controls and government regulation, mainly in the EU. Meanwhile, the Company had shown tremendous improvement in the net cash position during FY21. Thus, it remained well-positioned to pursue growth opportunities. The stock made a 52-week low and high of GBX 252.00 and GBX 513.00, respectively.

Based on the strong top-line & bottom-line business performance during H1 FY21, and valuation as done using the above method, we have given a “BUY” recommendation on Ferrexpo PLC at the current market price of GBX 252.00 (as on 18 January 2022 at 10:51 AM GMT), with lower-double digit upside potential based on 2.33x Price/NTM Earnings (approx.) on FY21E earnings per share (approx.).

Phoenix Global Resources PLC

Phoenix Global Resources PLC (LON: PGR) is a FTSE AIM Index listed upstream oil and gas entity.

Investment Rationale – SPECULATIVE BUY at GBX 3.50

  • Surge in Oil Price: The Brent crude price had breached 7-year high levels due to the tight supply.
  • Extension of Repayment Date: Mercuria has provided financial support to PGR as it has agreed to extend the repayment date for the bridging facility's principal and interest to 31 December 2022.
  • Strong Average Daily Oil Production: The adverse impact of the 2020 shutdown led to an increase in average daily oil production from 3,546 bopd (“barrels of oil per day”) in H1 FY20 to 4,258 bopd for H1 FY21.
  • Technical Indicator: From a technical standpoint, the momentum oscillator 14-day RSI (~32.41) is in the oversold zone, while the stock price is hovering near the lower Bollinger Band.

Key Risks

  • Cyber Security Risk: The cybersecurity risk has been identified as an emerging risk since breaching of data might hamper operations of the Company to a certain extent.
  • Diminished access to Debt Markets: Failure to obtain funding from financial markets after an interest rate hike may result in the delay of exploration activities and development programmes.

(Source: Company Website)

  • Significant Increase in Top-Line Revenue: The increase in the realised price per barrel had enabled PGR to show a top-line revenue increase from USD 24.9 million during H1 FY20 to USD 36.1 million for H1 FY21.
