Angus Energy Plc, an AIM-quoted oil and gas producer and a constituent of the FTSE AIM All Share Index, said on 14 October 2026 that it had secured a rig for a workover of the suspended BRX4Z wellbore at the Brockham Oil Field, with work scheduled for early November 2026.

The company said preparation was well advanced and all long-lead items had been ordered. The operation is expected to take about three weeks and involves perforating and acidising the Portland reservoir interval. Angus holds 80% of the Brockham asset. It aims to bring BRX4Z into production, which it expects to raise output and recovery from the field. The announcement gave no cost estimate or production forecast.

Debt reduction

An earlier update, on 10 August 2026, set out progress on the balance sheet. Angus said it had repaid in full a £1.95m ORRI cash amount, eliminating that liability, and had made an additional £1.996m prepayment to the Trafigura facility. The amount outstanding under that Facility fell to about £22.7m, and total Debt principal repaid reached £5.241m. Future cash sweeps will go entirely to the Trafigura facility.

The announcement referred to a restructuring dated 26 June 2026, while a bullet point counted repayments from 24 June, a small discrepancy in the dates given.

A restructured company

The debt payments follow a financial restructuring that ran through the early summer. Filings show a financial restructuring update on 4 June 2026, interim results on 23 June 2026, and a proposed restructuring and fundraising with notice of a general meeting on 24 June. A circular followed on 25 June, and the result of the general meeting was announced on 13 July 2026. A director was appointed and trading in the shares was restored on 14 July 2026, and a production, operations, corporate and finance update came on 15 July 2026. The annual maintenance shutdown was reported complete on 5 August 2026. The specifics of the fundraising terms were not reviewed, so they are not described here.

Assets and the financial picture

The 10 August announcement described the Saltfleetby Gas Field, in which Angus has a 100% interest, the majority-owned and operated Brockham and Lidsey oil fields, and a 25% interest in the Balcombe Licence. No production volumes were given in that notice, and no Dividend information was found.

Sector and index context

Angus is quoted on AIM and forms part of the FTSE AIM All Share Index; no share price or weighting was confirmed. Small onshore producers are sensitive to Commodity prices, and well interventions such as workovers can be technically uncertain. Debt service also takes a large share of Cash Flow in such businesses, which is why repayment progress matters to the Equity story.

Risks and what to watch

The workover carries the usual operational risks of delay, cost overrun or a result below expectations. The remaining Trafigura balance of roughly £22.7m is still a significant claim on cash flow, and a history of restructuring is a reminder of Balance Sheet pressure.

Gas and oil prices, which the company does not control, ultimately determine the value of any extra barrels brought on stream. Readers should watch for an announcement on the outcome of the BRX4Z workover once the rig has completed its roughly three-week programme, further debt repayment updates, and any production figures for Saltfleetby and Brockham.

Investors tracking the company will also note that its Assets span both gas and oil, which diversifies exposure across two commodity markets.
