Highlights:

  • METLEN awarded EPC contract for Longfield Solar Farm, one of the largest UK solar projects.
  • Longfield expected to provide electricity for around 130,000 households and reduce 60,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
  • Project includes design, procurement, civil, mechanical, electrical, testing, and commissioning works.

METLEN (LSE:MTLN) has been appointed by EDF Power Solutions UK to deliver the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works for the 400MW Longfield Solar Farm. The project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2027, with completion targeted for 2030.

The appointment comes as procurement activities are increasing ahead of construction, marking the next phase in the project’s development.

Scope of Work and Project Details
METLEN’s contract includes full project design, site surveys, procurement, delivery of all materials, and execution of civil, mechanical, electrical, testing, and commissioning work required for the solar facility, in accordance with National Grid Code and DCO requirements, excluding grid connection works.

EDF Power Solutions and METLEN plan to engage the local supply chain, with a dedicated engagement day scheduled in Essex during spring. The Longfield Solar Farm is estimated to produce electricity for approximately 130,000 households while avoiding around 60,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
