Highlights
- Drilling at Molaoi continues successfully, with hole HMO-010 reaching 140m depth as of 8th December.
- Early pXRF results show high-grade zinc, silver, and lead, with germanium to be tested in laboratories.
- Pre-feasibility studies including Hydrology and Ecological studies have been commissioned for timely completion.
Rockfire Resources plc (LSE:ROCK), a base metal, critical mineral, and precious metal exploration company, has provided an update on drilling at its 100%-owned Molaoi zinc deposit in Greece. The drill rig is currently on the third hole site, HMO-010, and has reached a depth of 140.00m as of Monday, 8th December.
Massive sulphides are being encountered at the predicted depths, consistent with the existing resource model. The main target lodes lie below the current drill depth, with 200m identified as the top of the target zone for mineralisation.
Early Assay Results
Preliminary pXRF readings from HMO-010 indicate high concentrations of zinc, silver, and lead. Between 97.55m and 98.20m depth, spot readings peaked at 13.9% Zn, 1.48% Pb, and 133ppm Ag. The pXRF equipment does not measure germanium, which will be analysed in the laboratory for accurate results.
Resource Outlook
Upon completion of the current drilling campaign, Molaoi is expected to host Europe’s only defined Inferred Resource of germanium and rank among the two globally quoted germanium resources. The ongoing drilling program aims to upgrade the zinc, silver, and lead resource from Inferred to Indicated, with operations expected to continue throughout the first half of 2026.
Pre-Feasibility Studies Underway
Rockfire has initiated long lead-time components of its planned pre-feasibility study. A Hydrology Study and an Ecological Study are underway, both requiring a minimum of 12 months of baseline monitoring and measurements. These early commissions are intended to ensure timely completion of all studies required prior to mining.
The pXRF machine’s accuracy and precision are verified daily using a BLANK reference material (translucent quartz crystal) and a Certified Reference Material (ORES 620) specific to volcanic-hosted massive sulphide Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag-Au ore.
Share Price Snapshot
