Valuation Methodology: Price/Earnings Approach (FY22E)

Business Outlook

SCS has reported outstanding FY21 results with robust top-line revenue growth and switched back into profitability. Moreover, SCS adapted well after the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic and launched a website to attract customers shopping online following the store closures. Meanwhile, the Company is working closely with suppliers to mitigate the risk of continued supply chain disruption during the second half of FY22. Furthermore, the Company has witnessed a strong order intake, illustrated by a robust trading in its key winter trading period. In a nutshell, the Company aims to generate significant returns for the shareholders and remain on track to meet full-year expectations.

Markets are trading in a highly volatile zone currently due to certain macro-economic and geopolitical tensions prevailing. Therefore, it is prudent to follow a cautious approach while investing.

Considering the strong order intake during H1 FY22, strong growth in dividend payments, turnaround into profitability, and support from the valuation as done using the above method, we have given a “Speculative Buy” recommendation on SCS Group PLC at the current market price of GBX 188.05 (as of 03 March 2022 at 11:13 AM GMT), with lower-double digit upside potential based on 7.81x Price/NTM Earnings (approx.) on FY22E earnings per share (approx.).
